Mark Hebner the founder and President of Index Funds Advisors, Inc., author
of the ifa, com and indexfunds.com web sites, and the book, Index Funds: The
12-Step Program for Active Investors presented his 12-step program to the
members. Members were split on agreement with his message: that the active
investor could get better results by investing in a portfolio consisting of
several index funds than he could either by doing the investing himself or by
hiring a professional advisor. He had 80 years of data to support his assertion.
His presentation was good in that he was straight with the audience, and did
not pull any punches.
