Michael Yackira, President & CEO, of newly named NV Energy addressed a small audience at the October Monthly meeting. Presidential debates and baseball playoffs, plus holding the meeting a week later, all contributed to a smaller than average member turnout. Yackira stressed the progress NV Energy has made in the past three years plus it's aggressive advance in solar and geothermal energy. He stated the utility now pays a dividend, after a 3 year absence, and will continue to deliver these quarterly payments to shareholders in the future. He went on to say energy conservation and efficient delivery of low cost power to Nevada customers is the corporate objective. He described several specific actions the company has underway to provide lower cost, more environmental friendly energy. The audience was impressed with Yackira's professional delivery and knowledge. There was an interesting and lively Q & A following Yackira's address. |
